Hardened Steel Drive Gears
Like all other Bondtech Extruders, the DDG features Nickel Coated hardened Steel Drive Gears to feed standard and abrasive materials with confidence and without wear.
Replacing the stock stepper motor
This extruder upgrade kit for the Ultimaker 3 printers replaces the original feeders, it comes with it´s own Nema17 high precision geared stepper motor.
It allows for a more reliable printing with all sorts of filaments, both stiff and flexibles and the DualDrive system ensures that the extruder never looses grip of the filament so grinding, slipping is a thing of the past.
The high resolution makes printing with small nozzles <0.30 mm a simple task for those high-res prints.
The included mounts in FDM printed PETG installs at the top of the rear side of the printer.
Installs in about an one hour with standard tools available.
E-steps needs to be updated to 492.45 and the feeding speed used when performing a “Material Change” from the LCD of the printer.
The reason for why the stepper motor stalls is that our motor uses a planetary gear reducer, this means that the motor will have to turn faster to feed at the same speed as the original feeder.
There is no firmware with updated e-steps available since the Ultimaker3 uses another type of firmware than the Ultimaker2, for Ultimaker 3 the configuration needs to be updated directly on the printer, for more information please see the installation guide.

For best performance also use PTFE tube 3.18/6.4 mm diameter as you can find below.
